Chehilet Laayani is not a 'traditional Algerian song'. It's originally a 1947 popular hit 'Quizás, Quizás, Quizás', written by the Cuban songwriter Osvaldo Farres, and later added English lyrics by Joe Davis to be come 'Perhaps, Perhasp, Perhaps'.
In 1958, the Algerian musician Abdelhakim Garami wrote the Arabic lyrics 'Chehilet laayani' for it and it has become a massive hit in Arab world ever since.
